For those of us who love to nerd out and revel in the joy of random facts and interesting trivia, and for those of us who like a bit of healthy competition which passes time in more productive a manner than just watching 'fail' vids on Youtube, Superbuzzer is a gift from the heavens.
If you fall into either or both of these categories, I strongly urge that you find and immerse yourself in this fantastic little game by Gerwin Software that's free to download and play on Facebook and as an app on your phone.
Oh. A disclaimer at this point. This blog is in no way affiliated with Gerwin Software or any parties making a profit from Superbuzzer. I'm just your friendly neighbourhood nerd who is addicted to this game and wants to create a place for fellow fans to comment and share ideas. I also intend to post about questions, answers and unrelated trivia just for fun. Sooo... yeah.
Now, information about the game. Basically, it's a quiz game that is based on live competition online. You create your avatar, which you're free to modify at any time, and then you go about competing online in live quizzes with three rounds each where you gain points by giving the right answers to trivia questions from many different categories. You get extra points for being the first to hit the buzzer, but once you do hit the buzzer you have an adequate amount of time to answer before the timer runs out. You also get to emote and chat live with your opponents.
Confused? Let us go into it in detail then...
Here's how the game works:
ROUND 1:
This is a 'get as many points as you can' round. The game begins when there are at least 5 players who log on to play, and draws the maximum limit at 6 players. There are 5 questions in this round, where you get 3 points for the fastest buzz, 2 for the second buzz and 1 for just getting the answer right. You can buzz as soon as you've figured out the answer and don't have to wait for the question to finish loading on the screen. This gives you an advantage once you've had some practice playing the game and also if you have a keen mind and can figure out the answer from a partial question. The four players with the maximum number of points move on to the second round.
ROUND 2:
This is an elimination round as well but this one has 'negative scoring' for wrong answers. In fact, if you don't know the answer it is better to not attempt in this round for the most part - unless of course you're desperate. There are 5 questions in this round too. And in the end, the two players with maximum points move on to the third round.
ROUND 3:
This is the face off between the final two players left standing. Both of the players' stats are briefly shown in the beginning like at the beginning of any good fight. Each player has a health bar of sorts. If you get the fastest buzz and give the right answer, you 'punch' the other player damaging his health. There are 6 questions in this round and victory can come one of three ways - by 'K.O', by surviving with more health than your opponent or if your opponent leaves the match in between.
Winning each match gives you Experience Points that decide how fast you level up. There are three levels to the matches - classic, elite and expert. You start out by playing classic matches and soon if you're good the other two levels become accessible. Each match requires one credit or life, and you're given a free one every twelve hours and one for winning a match. You also get a credit for levelling up. Plus of course, you have the option of buying credits from Gerwin Software instantly. To their credit, every week or so, they do come out with some exciting offers.
There is other stuff to talk about too... But we'll get to that later.
So that's the game of Superbuzzer in a nutshell. I will be posting more about trivia and game stuff from now on, so keep in touch or better yet - subscribe!
Adios for now guys, and remember to keep it nerdy!
